Colophon
This is a sample post. It exists to show what the front matter block looks like and to give the stylesheet something to render. Delete it once you’ve published something real.
Front matter🔗
Every file in content/blog/ needs a TOML block at the top, fenced by +++:
+++
title = "Colophon"
date = 2026-09-20
description = "One line for the index page and the meta description."
draft = false
+++Only title and date matter. description shows up under the title on the index.
draft = true keeps a page out of the build entirely — it isn’t rendered and has no URL, so it’s for unfinished work you still want committed. Preview drafts locally with zola serve --drafts. If instead you want a piece that’s live but unlisted, so you can send someone the link before it’s public, put it in content/unlisted/ rather than marking it a draft.
The filename becomes the URL: colophon.md is served at /blog/colophon/. To override that, add slug = "something-else". Renaming a published file breaks its links, so pick the slug once — or set aliases = ["/blog/old-name/"] to leave a redirect behind.
What the markdown supports🔗
Standard CommonMark, plus footnotes[1], tables, and fenced code blocks with syntax highlighting:
def per_unit_impedance(z_ohms, v_base_kv, s_base_mva):
z_base = (v_base_kv ** 2) / s_base_mva
return z_ohms / z_base| Conductor | Ampacity (A) | R @ 75 °C (Ω/mi) |
|---|---|---|
| 477 ACSR | 670 | 0.216 |
| 795 ACSR | 900 | 0.131 |
| 1272 ACSR | 1200 | 0.084 |
Block quotes render with a rule on the left and muted text.
Curly quotes, em dashes, and ellipses are generated automatically from plain ASCII — that’s Footnotes land at the bottom of the post, in smaller muted type. ↩smart_punctuation in config.toml.
